A new dwarf planet has been discovered in the solar system, confirming the presence of another large celestial body. This new object has a very eccentric orbit and an absolute magnitude (H magnitude) suggesting it could be hundreds of kilometers in diameter. The Minor Planet Center, which acts as a clearing house for such discoveries, announced that while it is not confirmed to be a full dwarf planet, it ranks among the largest known objects in our solar system, comparable to around 10-20 similar large bodies. It is noted for its significant orbital characteristics, including periapsis and apoapsis distances and a long orbital period.
