Meta and Yandex have been identified as engaging in practices that de-anonymize Android users' web browsing behaviors by exploiting the integration between apps and web browsers. The primary vulnerability exploited involves the use of the Meta Pixel, used on over 5.8 million websites, which captures web browsing identifiers and relays them to Meta's app ecosystem, thereby linking anonymous browsing behavior with identifiable user accounts. This practice poses significant privacy concerns, especially since it bypasses traditional privacy measures such as cookie clearing and Incognito Mode. Users have expressed a desire for stricter regulations against tracking and advertising, indicating a growing demand for privacy-focused solutions in web technology.
