Chiplets represent a contemporary approach to semiconductor design, enabling manufacturers to mix and match different functional components to create customized solutions. This modular strategy may help alleviate some of the challenges posed by traditional monolithic chip designs, especially as the industry grapples with the limitations of Moore's Law. However, the integration of chiplets brings its own set of challenges, particularly regarding architecture awareness and latency in processing contexts. The notion of chiplets is also reminiscent of previous designs that integrated separate components onto a single platform, showcasing a blend of older principles with new technology.
